We did it!!!

We've finally won a world cup! It might not have been the one we wanted but its still a World cup. I was supposed to be at work two and a half hours ago and even now, even after its all over i cant make myself get off the couch. I don't want to miss a thing. Oh my god Dhoni just took his shirt off. The mark of a good captain!!! What an incredible game. What an amazing feeling. I feel incredibly homesick right now. I don't hear fireworks outside. I don't know how I'm going to go to work and behave normally like its just another day when my car didn't start and we didn't just win the WORLD CUP!!!

I almost had a heart-attack in the last over. However, what was with the Pakistani captain thanking all the Muslims in the Muslim countries for their support. Umm....I guess noone took him for a lesson on religious tolerance

Who said India won? According to the Holy Right Reverend Ravi Shastri, cricket won today.

@neha: yes!!! i was looking forward to seeing irfan pathan jr and irfan pathan jr jr but irfan pathan jr jr turned out to be older [and not half as cute] than irfan pathan jr. if only he had stayed at the crease a little longer. the boy can definitely bat.

@i love lucy: yeah. its been a while since a final has been this close. there was this moment towards the end when they appealed for the lbw and taufel could have chosen to give it out. it was one of those 50 - 50 ones and as he shook his head you could almost see this glint in his eyes like he wanted it to go down to the wire.

@anon: yes and "all the indian countries" personally i think he was just scared for his life.

@i am the walrus: um ya, second week. but it was a world cup final! i'm trying to make this bigger than it is to help get over the tragedy that was march 23rd 2003 and march 23rd 2007. can you tell?

@krish ashok: that shastrinanmaga is so annoying and you cant escape the fool. he's everywhere. why is he everywhere when he has nothing intelligent or new to say?

Yay yay yay. Go Dhoni!

I was locked up in a hotel room in Lucknow with 3 people I barely knew, and believe me, it was still FANTASTIC!

Oh, and I so heart the Pathan bros.

Yay! Go India! I was able to watch the match due to my jet-lagged state that doesn't allow me to sleep at a reasonable hour. Awesomeness!

I was at TGIF. One had to be there to believe the atmosphere. There was some impromptu paki bashing too by the houseful janta..."ek do teen char..pakistan ko chod diya yaar"....: ) I am still hoarse..no con calls today thankfully....WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS..!!

They almost had it, that last arrogant shot was what screwed them over. Kickass though. First world championship in our hands in some 20 odd years. Next, the 50 over world cup :D

All that is fine and dandy. The Indian government is overdoing the cash money they are giving these guys. Seriously. I enjoyed the match and cheered for India as much as the next person. However, Deshmukh giving shit-faced big-eared Agarkar lakhs as a prize for representing Maharashtra is bullshit. He helped BY NOT PLAYING. Plus, 1 crore for Yuvi's 6 sixers. Plus lakhs of such prize money apart from their regular fee. Its sick and the media is making too much of a big deal about this.
